Wedding
We only have the basic details sorted so far but more will appear here as we get things arranged. If you have any questions or if we can help anyone to plan their travel arrangements, just let us know at niall@enduranceireland.com
We decided on a destination wedding so that people travelling would at least have some chance of some nice weather. Cork might be beautiful but it is also extrememly wet and expensive to get to.
As we're getting married abroad, we're concious that people might not know what to expect. On the right, is a very approximate timetable but don't sue us if we diverge. Having said that, the bride is known for her puctuality so if Daithi and Hugh could make sure the groom is at the altar in good time that would be very much appreciated!
The hotel we have chosen is the Santa Eulalia in Albufeira which is in the Algarve Region in Portugal. Details of the hotel are in the travel section. So that people don't have to worry about cars and travelling both the ceremony and the meal are in the hotel.
The Ceremony:
Joanne's marathon friend Pastor Philip Swann has very kindly agreed to conduct the marriage ceremony for us. Jo is absolutely thrilled to have someone who knows us involved and Philip is an absolute gentleman. A couple of hours in the pub with Phil and you'll have a spring in your step for days. Music will be by David and Stephanie.
Cocktail reception:
Portuguese weddings are followed by a drinks reception. While we might be blow-ins, we thought this was one tradition we would maintain. Besides, Charlie and Co. might need some dutch (or in this case Portuguese) courage before the speeches.
If Niall had his way, we would be having chocolate cake for starter, biscuit cake for a main and cheesecake for dessert... Jo is hoping for something a little more traditional, but please don't expect the meat and two veg you would have in Ireland.
After Dinner, Double Cocktail (David and Stephanie) will rejooin us to get you all up and dancing. No excuses will be accepted! Because we're in a 5* hotel, the music in the dining hall has to stop at 12:00 am, Not wanting to cramp your style, we've arranged to move downstairs to another room for another couple of hours with a D.J.
